The Perpetua Society

“The exhilarating experiences I have had over the years with the San Francisco Choral Society come to a head each semester when pure hard work and the artistic talents of the chorus come to a crescendo with performances. I have been inspired by the joy of singing and hearing the San Francisco Choral Society deliver outstanding performances of choral masterpieces and new commissioned works. Considering the immeasurable enjoyment I have received, how could I not want to give something back in return?” ——John Chapman

John Chapman passed away in the summer of 2014, within days of having performed with San Francisco Choral Society his favorite piece — Brahms’ A German Requiem. He, and his passion for choral music, will long be sorely missed.

More than 20 years ago, a few visionary choristers arranged to remember San Francisco Choral Society in their estate plans; they wanted this chorus to remain viable for those who came after them.  In doing so, they continued their own legacies as singers, and helped assure the viability of San Francisco Choral Society for future generations.

The San Francisco Choral Society’s Perpetua Society was established to thank and recognize generous individuals, like John Chapman, who have remembered the Choral Society in this very special way.  A list of their names appears in every concert program.

Those who support SF Choral through the Perpetua Society need not disclose the amount of their planned gift; some also request to remain anonymous in our Perpetua Society listings.

We hope you’ll help us keep the Choral Society thriving for another 28 years by designating the Choral Society in your estate plans. You’ll be ensuring the legacy of choral music for the future!

These fervent lovers of choral music have designated gifts to the San Francisco Choral Society through their estate planning.

Their generosity and foresight inspire our ever greater commitment to the SF Choral mission to be. . . “A premier symphonic chorus, inspiring and enriching people’s lives through the joy and power of choral music.”
