Julia

Young

President

Julia retired from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco after practicing law for 42 years in a variety of areas, including bank supervision and liquidation, labor and employment matters and affordable housing. She began singing in middle school and high school, primarily in church choirs, and also studied piano from an early age. Julia joined SF Choral in 2010, the board in 2012, and became President of the Board in January, 2014. 

Devi

Brown

Treasurer

Devi Brown has had her own bookkeeping service for over 35 years, specializing in QuickBooks setup and training and offering full-charge bookkeeping services. She holds a degree in Music Theory and Composition from Boston University School of Fine Arts and has been singing with SF Choral since 2009. She is currently serving on the boards of Choral Singers of Marin and the Canal Welcome Center. She is an avid knitter and quilter and she always says, “Let a Libra balance your books!

Alice

Aronow

Secretary

Alice Aronow retired from the San Francisco VA Medical Center in 2013 after a long social work career, which ranged from direct service to Veterans to supervisory roles in the homeless program. She has enjoyed choral singing since childhood, first in church choir, then school and college choirs, a small a cappella group, and the Winifred Baker Civic Chorale. Since retiring, she studies music and other subjects at the Fromm Institute of the University of San Francisco. She joined SF Choral in 2003, and joined our board in 2017.

 

Paul

Nocero



After many years as a programmer, analyst, and senior sales executive with a major software company, Paul now devotes more time to music. His background in singing reaches back to grade school, and he has been the lead guitar in his church choir for more than 35 years. Paul sang with the Winifred Baker Civic Chorale in the 1980s, and joined SF Choral in 2003. He joined the board in 2006 and supports the board’s on-line database and office system, as well as the Silent Auction Committee.

Rhea Lee

Arajs

An SF native, Rhea’s background in music began as a vocal performance major at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts which eventually led her to study and perform opera in New York City and Italy. Her love of music and performance spans beyond choral and operatic work and includes genres like jazz, blues and rock. She holds a degree in Political Science with a minor in East Asian Studies from Boston University and has experience in operations and production management. She currently holds a position as a senior customer experience strategist. She joined SF Choral in 2018 and is excited to be a new member of the Board in 2021.

Jessica

Meyers

Jessica is the owner of a music school in San Francisco’s Richmond District, where she teaches piano and general musicianship to children. Prior to her career as a piano teacher, she was a professional actor for many years and performed with numerous theatre companies in the Bay Area and beyond. She earned a degree in Music from Brown University and is a certified instructor of the Harmony Road Piano Method. Jessica’s love for choral singing began in third grade, and she has been singing in choirs, a cappella groups, and countless children’s music classes ever since. She joined the Choral Society in 2017 and is happy to be joining the board in 2023.
