Our Mission Statement

The San Francisco Choral Society, a large, diverse group of singers, is a cultural resource for the Bay Area. With an emphasis on major works for chorus and orchestra, it presents concerts of historical and modern choral music at the highest possible artistic level, it educates singers and audiences through a variety of programs, and it collaborates with various domestic and international ensembles for their Bay Area performances.

Article II (Purposes), section 2.01 (Objectives and Purposes)

The primary objectives and purposes of this Corporation shall be:

(a)to provide instruction in choral music forms such as classical, religious, and secular music;
(b)to provide instruction in reading and interpreting choral music;
(c)to give public choral music performances;
(d)to sponsor special events involving the public performance of choral music as well as other performing arts by the Corporation's performing choruses and ensembles as well as by other community performing arts groups;
(e)to directly engage in and to provide facilities for others to engage in the promotion of the arts, generally; and
(f)to engage in and complete any other objectives needed to accomplish items (a) through (e) above.
